Due to the large number of causes of headaches and the complexity of diagnosis, it is important to have your symptoms diagnosed by a qualified Doctor who is experienced in the area of migraine headache diagnosis. Correct diagnosis of migraines is made even more difficult due to the symptoms and triggers being variable from one person to another, as do the responses to treatment. Furthermore, although migraine pain is usually unilateral (on one side of the head only), it is actually bilateral in approximately one-third of cases.
Although there is no known reliable cure for migraines, there are many natural treament options available. In some people, and over quite a period of time, it may happen that these treatments will actually achieve significant symptom alleviation. Several of these cluster headache and migraine treatments are discussed under these links: Supplements & Natural Therapies. Many of the other natural therapies will need be covered in a naturopathic consultation. I would suggest that in order for an individual to eliminate the symptoms of the headaches completely it will, in most cases, take at least 2 years of reasonably intense application of my suggested therapies - which include supplements, herbs, lifestyle changes/techniques, and very importantly - metaphysical counselling. It may also include physical therapies such as physiotherapy, oesteopathy and chiropractic manipulation. The exact therapies would have to be determined on an indivdual case-by-case basis. Even then, I cannot offer any guarantee of results.
One therapy that is applicable to most people is some sort of controlled fasting program. This can be lemon juice, brown rice or apple juice fasting - consult your Naturopathic Practitioner prior to commencing a comprehensive detox program. You should ask for a Urinary Indicans test to check for the presence of intestinal dysbiosis prior to commencing a detox program. If dysbiosis is confirmed, this encourages toxins to be reabsorbed from the intestines back into the body.
Even after the application of all these therapies, a cure is definitely not guaranteed. In fact the Allopathic Medical fraternity believes that there is no such thing as a cure for migraines and cluster headaches. Only the individual will decide whether to accept that prognosis without taking action, or whether they will try to prove the Medical Fraternity wrong and in fact find that they can completely heal migraines themselves.
